HISTORY

December 9, 1997 Created under the initiative of Les Petits frères des Pauvres, the day centre for homeless seniors or seniors living in precarious conditions opens its doors for the first time.

December 1, 2000 First established at 1699 Amherst, the organization moves to 1223A on the same street.

April 2010 After giving careful consideration to its mission statement and constitutional texts, the organization went on a “retreat” (lac-à-l’épaule): PAS de la rue will refocus on its priority; helping homeless people or people living in precarious conditions.

October 2010  Launch of Programme d’action vers l’autonomie (P.A.V.A.), 1st edition.

17 octobre 2011  PAS de la rue moves into brand new accommodations, thus confirming its aim to provide long-term, structured solutions to seniors’ homelessness.

2012 Creation of a support continuum, from the street to housing

2014 Major strategic planning 2014-2017

2015 Le Relais du PAS : 8 housing units scheduled to open in April

11 856 uses of our services. (1064 proximity contacts + 10,792 day-centre visits). This is a 13% increase over last year.

46 individuals reached out to per day on average. This includes on average 42 day-centre visits per day (a 9% increase over last year).

Over 900 different individuals reached out to.

500 different homeless individuals reached out to directly in public spaces or in first line resources.
